UPSRTC Hikes DA by 8%: A Welcome for the Employees and Infrastructures Development

Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, UPSRTC, increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of regular employees by 8%, increasing it from 38% to 46%. The move aims to soften the blow of inflation for employees’ pay.

Financial Implications

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said this DA hike will benefit 15,843 regular employees and an additional financial burden of approximately ₹5 crore will have to be borne by the UPSRTC. The Board of Directors has cleared the further 4% hike in DA that is presently under government scrutiny. At this rate, the DA would touch 50%. This would make the gratuity for retiring employees the maximum ₹25 lakh. The present cap on this is ₹20 lakh.

Employee Reception

Regular employees have welcomed the DA increase, hoping it will improve their motivation and productivity. Employee representatives also appealed to the corporation to address the concerns of contract workers, arguing that inflation affects all staff members.

Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives

In view of Maha Kumbh 2025, UPSRTC Managing Director Masood Ali Sarwar has urged private companies to utilize their CSR funds for passenger amenities development. The list of improvements includes water ATMs, themed gates, enquiry displays, benches, microphones, blankets, dustbins, and signages at permanent bus stops. He has approached SBI, HDFC, PNB, Kotak Mahindra, Indian Oil, and Central Bank for this purpose.

Conclusion

8% DA hiked by UPSRTC showcases the commitment the organization bears to support employees as high cost of living soars on. It should raise their morale and thus their performance as well. Further, this corporation shows active behavior towards improving services to commuters in advance with infrastructure sharing by private operators in particular with the celebration of great events like the Maha Kumbh 2025.
